::Poachers.

11:01 a.m. - 2007-01-29

You know what i absolutely detest?

People trying to tell me what exactly i should do and making an attempt at questioning my beliefs. It pisses me beyond hell and i'm probably gonna piss a few of you diehards while i relate my unfortunate experience.

As i unsuspectingly sat at the forum to check out my classes for the day(and the very hunky looking blue-eyed white boy sitting right across.i'm kidding!) this girl comes and props herself next to me.

So i'm guessing she needs a survey to be done, which is pretty common in NUS where everybody is constantly trying to research on God knows what(you really wonder sometimes with the odd questions these surveys ask at times).

So she passes me the survey and thats when i know i'm a little doomed. It says "Campus Crusade for Christ". So it asks me about love and i answer duly.

The last question was as it always is the nail-it question. "Religion".

Now i think of most of you who have been approached by these people i choose to name "religious poachers", you'd probably figure which direction this story is going towards.

So she takes out this book that says "Are you satisfied" and shows me a host of words and asks me to describe my relationship with God. A little pissed and extremely late for my lesson, i answer, "Let me see. I'm SATISFIED"

So she kinda figured that i was trying to be funny and she goes on to read, word-for-word whatever is written on this little "divine" book of hers.

After a few minutes i got really tired and i asked her if she was just gonna keep reading cos if she was, i could read for myself. Thats when she starts on the whole principles talk and why i choose to be Hindu especially when i cannot prove so many things(i forgot to ask her to explain this point.).

So i decide to turn the tables on her and i asked her if the Bible was the truth and the whole truth. She replies, "Yea. If it wasn't i wouldn't believe it at all."

I'm not even gonna bother explaining the rest of this story.

My point is, why poach and goad people on to following a way of life you have decided upon? Isn't religion supposed to be a life choice? Not something someone comes up to you while you're at the Forum and smacks into your head.

See, i don't go around insisting people follow me to the temple. Hell, i even go to the church every Saturday(this is quite a funny sentence on hindsight). But i do it out of choice and because it gives me a sense of satisfaction, not because someone told me to!

Even worst is the fact, that you practically wait till someone is alone, looks too kind to actually shove you aside and then start on your holier-than-thou bullshit.

I don't care if you're Christian, Buddhist or even if you're from the KKK. Just don't shove it in my face!

*mutters and murmurs*

And thus, i was late for class.
