I've always felt extremely gifted in life. No matter how many screwed up situations i've been a part of, or how many people have a bad impression of me, i knew that the people whom i loved to death, always did love me.
I've always been known to have more male friends than female friends and i've been constantly considered some kind of bitch just cos i hang out with boys. My reason was always simple. Men judge less, not cos they are the nicer or fairer sex, but just because they are usually less harsh and more truthful.
However, I have always treasured this select bunch of girlfriends i have. They come from different backgrounds and I know each of them in a different context, but they mean so much to me.
A real girl friend is someone you know would not attempt to get it on with your man. Yes, apparently people like that DO exist in today's world. I've never understood how your girl friends' men could be considered fair game.
Of late, I have seriously started appreciating this bunch of girls, cos i know that no matter what, they would stick by me. They would feel excited for me when something good happens for me ,be by my side when I hit ground zero and most importantly just have all these "defining" moments with me.
I've met certain people along the way who don't seem to have qualms with sleeping around with friends and sleeping around with their friends' men. I am lucky i guess cos this bunch of girls are different.
I wouldn't think twice about leaving my man alone with these girls cos they'd love me too much and respect my love life enough to not mess with them. And mind you, these girls are hot chics! i'm so proud to say I have women with class and spunk by my side. Women who are empowered and women who are intelligent. Women who know what they want in life and women who would never falter in their principles.
I hope that girlfriends who are incapable of calling themselves girlfriends do look at these girlfriends of mine and learn a lesson or two in morality. Some of the appalling behaviour i have seen recently has taught me A LOT.

Meet the ladies of my life..
Bavani. This girl and I never ever talked when we were actually in the same school. I always admired her lovely hair from afar but i really never thought that one day she'd mean the world to me. After some Subway lunches, we became so close. I loved the way she was as excited and passionate as i was about things. She never once questioned my happiness and instead always felt so glad that I was having some ups in life. I swear we're like sisters, the way we so gamely end up changing in the same cubicle, only to end up with someone's jeans half jammed. Every Monday feels so bright and cheery cos of my Bavani-fix cos of our pasta lunches at Grinning Gecko. Bavani baby ,you're my sunshine.
Jasmine Paul. This woman has been with me through thick and thin. Sometimes we don't quite agree on certain issues but we always manage to talk so freely. When we say 100% confidence, this is what it is. Telling Jasmine a secret is like putting it in a safe. We've even made a pact to never fight with each other, cos we just know way too much about each other. She's been there through my Audrey Hepburn wannabe moments and has even eaten all the fried food i've cooked for her(and later drowned in chilli sauce) during one of our girls' day moments. If i've fucked something up, I know Jassie would tell me as it is. We don't need to talk everyday or have constant updates cos when we suddenly meet after a bit, we'd end up with a total influx of stories and spend a good 3 to 4 hours just relishing in each others' company. Thanks Jasmine for not judging me and being there for me through all the ups and downs and keeping all my secrets. MWAH!
Jesreen.Its funny because we aren't exactly that close but i still remember a 2-3 months when we were in Year 1 and we were really close. I remember how i used to play that weird "Model" game on her handphone and how we used to compete on who could copy notes faster. Indeed, we're never going to be as close, but i can always count on her to listen when i need the advice of someone who would give me a completely different perspective. She is hot as hell and her legs are seriously never-ending. I love the way she always manages to feel excited for me or feels my pain whenever i confide in her or share my stories with her. I know i could trust her in any moment and she'd always show me her support.
Rashmi.This one i really have no words to describe. Everytime i feel so shocked at how screwed up this world is, i just have to think of Rashmi and how she's living proof that angels still do exist. She's not only the best kind of girlfriend someone could have, but she's just an amazing person as a whole. I am incredibly protective over this one and she is incredibly affectionate towards me. I know no one else who would always make sure that she writes me testimonials, remembers important dates, messages me when i go missing for too long and always take a million pictures for me. Rashmi means the world to me and no matter how she can totally make me a filipino maid along with herself or ensure that i lose all my maanam in the middle of the entire Indian who's who, I am always always going to love and cherish this girl.
Sadhana Rai. I cannot think of anyone else who could fulfil my intellectual needs the way this girl does it. The things we talk about and the ideas we have together, its amazing. And even beyond all that, we have the most funnest of moments together. We talk about everything, dance Bhangra in the middle of the Arts Canteen and always become like 2 nerds(she more than me) during Literature tutorial. She is such a beautiful person and she is worth so much and i wish she knew how priceless a soul she is. I love the way that even after 2 years, old habits die hard with her, cos we still end up hanging long long conversations during Literature tutorials where we write "essays" to each other regarding issues. She's always there to back me up and make sure that I don't slack my ass off. Hum Do No Jaise, Hey Kaunu Yaha... don't know if i got that right, but it works for me!
Sonia. Chi Chi here is the most fun loving and easygoing girl i've been around. She truly made my college days a breeze with the way she used to dance Bhangra on my lap and the way we always ended up buying her burdgers when we lose bets. Once again, I always feel this need to protect her and make sure she doesn't get hurt though, in reality, falling is as familiar to her as walking itself. Sonia gives the best hugs and she always warms my heart with the littlest acts of kindness. Sonia baby, you really are such a cheerer-upper for me!
