::Childhood reminscience..

12:33 a.m. - 2006-10-27

Its been a pretty fun week but of everything, I've really been thinking about my childhood.

Today,while walking past the blocks at Yishun with Kev, he was reminiscing about his childhood. He regaled me with stories about Victor(his younger brother) and how he got hit by the soccer ball, how they wrote their names into the wet cement and just how every inch had so much meaning to him.

Its amazing isn't it? The funny things we remember from our childhood. I still smile when i think about how I used to insist on different hairstyles for kindergarten every single day, much to the horror of my elder sister.

I remember childrens' day and how wearing the perfect frock was so important. I remember Marie Fuki, my Canadian Japanese friend and how she got her rubberband stuck in my long-haired Mermaid barbie's hair and her mother suggested cutting her hair.

I remember Diana from the block in front and how we used to play Masak Masak. The days where my cousins used to come over on Sundays and we'd go play in the carpark.

Somehow,those moments of sheer innocence would always be the most enjoyable times of our lives.

On the flipside...

Three days ago, i saw this girl in the bus from my primary school. And i swear she remembered me but just decided to ignore me. You know why???

In Primary 3, she had accidentally taken my textbook. I didn't realise it and i ended up getting a black dot in my notebook which means i had to get my mother to sign for me acknowledging that i did not bring my book to school.

I was so afraid of getting caught by my mother so i decided to be a genius. Remember that "Narkudi Makkal" small book where your mother or father had to sign whenever you did something good? I cut my mother's signature out of that and pasted it onto the notebook. I told my teacher that the paper had tore and my mother pasted that in(funny how she actually bought my story since that small bit was another coloured paper).

So i didn't get caught by my teacher right? Guess what? A few weeks later, my teacher gave me a good comment(which incidentally goes into the same book) and i happily go show it to my mother. Awaiting praises and all, i was very quickly brought down from cloud nine when my mother reminded me of the act of forgery that i had conveniently forgotten.

Tsk.

All because of that stupid girl. Kev suggested I whack her up in the bus. I decided to be the "bigger" woman and let her survive.(notice how i still hold something that happened a decade ago against her).

And then when i went to school another girl actually waved at me(yes Jeremiah,at me, NOT you!) and i knew what that doink had done!

She was in my project and we had to make this "Our Neighbourhood" model or something. So the rest of us settled on a HDB flat, she wanted a Christmas House or something. We refused. She got mad and threw her spectacles onto the model and started breaking it. She later also complained to her mother that we broke her spectacles.

Needless to say, all of us became anti-her thereafter. To which she aptly responded, "Its okay. I'm gifted student. I going Mayflower once the test results are out". Guess what? She really did.

Doesn't matter anyhow since we're all in the same boat now right? WRONG. I still don't like her.
